Armstrong Strike the Difference in Vigorous friendly Outing

February 18, 2007

Galway United 1

Finn Harps 0

Paul Hegarty's Finn Harps side traveled to Terryland Park in Galway looking to further build on their impressive win at the Coleraine Showgrounds. While the result went against Harps there were many positives to be taken from the display as the away side had the better of the possession and the chances against Tony Cousins' full-timers.

It was the impressive Chris Armstrong who was the difference between the sides as he turned and shot past Gallagher on the 15-minute mark, his powerful strike giving the Harps keeper no chance. Harps could and should have responded almost immediately, with Seamus Browne missing a great chance to equalize after capitalizing on uncertainty in the home defense.

For much of the remainder of the game Harps held the upper hand without being able to make it count on the score-sheet. In the closing minutes especially Harps applied large amounts of pressure, with John O'Loughlin and Gary Crossan both making Rogers work with fine saves.

Paul Hegarty will no doubt draw comfort from the way his side performed despite the result, as Harps played some excellent passing football on the perfect Terryland surface and looked fit, organised and sharp.
