Breen on the Double For Harps In Castlebar

Castlebar Celtic… .2
Finn Harps………..3
Chris Breen bagged a brace of goals on Saturday afternoon as Finn
Harps chalked up their second win in three pre-season outings with
this win over Gavin Dykes' Castlebar Celtic.
The Mayo League outfit, managed by former Harps boss Dykes, put up a
decent showing although on the balance of the play the Finnsiders
should have won by more than the solitary strike that was between them
at the end.
It was a completely different Harps eleven that started the game
against Gavin Dykes' men on Saturday afternoon with manager Paul
Hegarty offering opportunities for some of his fringe players to make
an impression.
Harps led 2-1 at the break with a Chris Breen header and a superb
strike from the industrious Stephen Parkhouse providing the
breakthroughs for the Finn-siders, who went 3-1 up in the second half
when Breen grabbed his second.
His pace took him clear of his man and showing great composure he made
no mistake in firing past the goalkeeper.
Castlebar pulled a goal back late on and the Harps manager was
disappointed with the goals conceded although he was taking heart from
another good team performance.
"We gave away two goals from set pieces which is always disappointing,
but we got a positive result. We created a lot of chances and to be
honest should have won by more than we did," commented Paul Hegarty.
The Harps boss was particularly pleased with Chris Breen, who is
making great strides in his recovery from a hamstring injury and
Stephen Parkhouse who also had a slight knock during the last week.
"Chris Breen played 60minutes in Castlebar and also came on for
15minutes against Galway. That is really positive from our point of
view and for him to get two goals was good as well. Stephen Parkhouse
played against Castlebar for 70minutes and came on against Galway too
and I think he did well," added Hegarty.
