Finn Harps Chairman John Campbell last night expressed his delight at the display of the Finn Harps players in yesterday's match with Celtic.
Speaking to finnharps dot com at the aftermatch reception in Jacksons Hotel Campbell said "Every player who pulled on a Harps jersey tonight did us proud, I'm delighted for them to get a win over illustrious opposition and they and our manager Paul are a credit to the club, they put on a great advertisement for Finn Harps FC tonight"
Harps, without Stephen Parkhouse, James Gallagher and Jonathan Minnock were in sparkling form in the first half of the big friendly, racing to a 3-0 lead while playing some dazzling football in front of a capacity crowd of over 5,000. Despite making several changes at half time Harps held on to record a famous victory over the SPL Champions who featured a number of household names such as Bobo Balde, Thomas Graveson, Darren O Dea and Evander Sno.
Campbell hopes that some of the spectators will have taken note. "Its was fantastic too see such a big crowd at Finn Park and hopefully those who are not regular visitors will have seen that we have a great footballing side here. These are almost all local players, and Paul Hegarty has them playing fantastic football, we are back in the playoff spot and very definately in the hunt for the First Division title.
So I hope that some of the football fans in Donegal who came along for the big event tonight will maybe come back for our league game with Wexford on Friday, or the massive cup derby match with Derry the following weekend, it would certainly be great to see more crowds like last night, and a few extra people through the turnstiles will make it a lot easier for us to keep developing and improving the club"
