HARPS MUST TRAVEL TO TERRYLAND
June 1, 2007
By Joe Doherty
Finn Harps must make the trip to Terryland Park in two weeks time after they were drawn away to Premier Division Galway United in the FAI Cup 2 nd Round draw last night (Thursday). This will be the fifth meeting between the two sides in the Cup. In 1997-98 season on their way to the Cup semi-finals, Harps needed a replay to beat the Westerners. After drawing 2-2 at Terryland Park, Harps progressed with a 3-1 victory at Finn Park. The two sides met again the following season at the semi-final stage at Terryland Park and goals from Donal O'Brien and Jonathan Speak saw Harps advance to their first Cup Final in a quarter of a century as they recorded a 2-1 victory. Galway got their revenge twelve months later when they defeated Harps 3-1 at Finn Park.
There is a fair chance that there will be goals in this game, as in forty previous meetings between the two sides there has never been a 0-0 scoreline recorded. The game will take place at Terryland Park on Friday 15 th June – kick-off 7.45pm. A replay, if required, would take place at Finn Park on Monday/Tuesday 18 th/19 th June.
