Harps Chairman Asks Fans to be Patient

May 2, 2007

Finn Harps Chairman John Campbell has appealed to the club's loyal fanbase to stay behind the team over the coming weeks. He stressed the need for the people of Donegal to come out and support the team despite the disappointing campaign to date.

Speaking to the club's official website he said "We know that the season so far has been very disappointing for the supporters. The results against Wexford and Kildare in particular really set us back but any supporters who were in Athlone last weekend were greatly encouraged by the fighting spirit of the team"

Indeed the reports from the Athlone Town Stadium at Lissywollen seem to contain some grounds for optimism ahead of the club's run of three home games starting with Kilkenny City at Finn Park this Friday night.

The chairman appealed for fans to be patient and get out and support their team in the coming week of home fixtures. "We can assure people that Paul and the team and everyone at the club are working very hard to turn things around, there have been a lot of changes this year and we are confident the results will come. The team and the club as a whole need the support of our loyal fans, we need people coming through the gates and the team need the fans to get behind them"

Finn Harps now face three home games in the space of a week, with Kilkenny City the visitors on Friday 4 th May at 8.00pm, followed by the League Cup meeting with Premier Division neighbours Sligo Rovers on Monday 7 th May at 7.00pm. Harps then face runaway Division 1 leaders Dundalk at Finn Park on Friday 11 th May with an 8.00pm kick off.
