Major Stadium Boost for Harps.

November 14, 2006

Finn Harps FC wish to confirm that the cost consultancy firm engaged to assess the tenders / submissions for the construction of the new Stadium and Training Complex at Stranorlar have completed their assessment, and have recommended local developers, Joseph Mc Menamin and Sons for the Project. Their appointment is subject to the approval of the FAI and Dept. of Sport.

The proposed complex would incorporate a fully seated and covered Stadium with 6,800 seats with administration building, dressing rooms and all facilities required to meet UEFA Licensing, as well as a number of additional pitches for training and local requirements.

This is great news for the Club, and is a result of a lot of hard work by many people over a number of years. The Club has received invaluable assistance from various parties to get the project to this stage. We would not have got to this stage without a partnership approach, and we will continue to work with various parties in the coming months in an effort to get the project started on the ground.

We have had regular meetings with the FAI, and the Department over the last few years, and taken on board advice received in relation to the procedures to follow, and critical requirements to meet. The Club has now met all the criteria required. Planning Permission was obtained in April 2005. Approval to proceed to tender was obtained earlier this year. Public Tenders were sought and have been received and assessed.

We are reluctant to put any time frame for commencement yet, as we require funding approval from the Department to be clarified. Obviously, construction will not commence until Department funding is in place and contractual matters are finalised to the satisfaction of all parties involved. This will hopefully become clear in the new year.
