Ryan played his underage football with Drumkeen United in the Lifford and District League, before moving cross-channel to join Leicester City.

Felix Healy brought him to Finn Park prior to the start of last season, but departed for Derry mid-way through the campaign. Has since returned to Ballybofey and has made a couple of first-team appearance this season.
